Discover Jaipur: The Pink City

Jaipur, often referred to as the "Pink City," is the capital of the Indian state of Rajasthan. It was founded in 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II and is one of the earliest planned cities in modern India, designed by the notable architect Vidyadhar Bhattacharya according to the principles of Vastu Shastra. Jaipur's architectural beauty and historical significance are evident in its numerous landmarks and monuments. 

One of the most iconic structures in Jaipur is the Hawa Mahal, or Palace of Winds, built in 1799. This five-story palace, made of red and pink sandstone, features 953 small windows, known as jharokhas, allowing royal ladies to observe street festivities without being seen. 

The cuisine of Jaipur is rich and varied, offering traditional Rajasthani dishes such as Dal Baati Churma, a quintessential meal consisting of lentils, baked wheat balls, and sweetened cereal. Ghewar, a traditional sweet made during the Teej festival, is known for its disc-like shape and honeycomb texture.
